Shadow the Hedgehog
SCORE: 59
Shadow the Hedgehog has been on the to-do review list for a few years now. I want to apologize to our thousands upon thousands of readers for taking so long to get to it. Your lengthy patience has been appreciated by me and the rest of the Family Friendly Gaming. Shadow the Hedgehog is a very deceptive video game that has tricked too many families. My hope is that after this review is published, millions can avoid being fooled into a purchase. The secular gaming media had been worshiping the disgusting GTA series long enough that Sega felt the need to have a darker, more violent, and anti-family figure. They introduced Shadow, and gave him his own game.
The level of violence in Shadow the Hedgehog is way over the top. Whereas Sonic would free little woodland creatures inside robots, Shadow will shoot anything that stands in his way. This kind of selfish behavior is a huge problem for families. This PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox video game also contain a lot of dark bland graphics. The camera likes to make the player die a lot, which will segway into the next section.
The overwhelming majority of the time Shadow dies, he says the name of a concrete structure that stops water. This is repeated so often (along with other bad language) that it really seeps into the mind, and players routinely wind up repeating it against their will. The music is also annoying, and the dialogue is troubling in many areas.
Shadow the Hedgehog is such a bad video game that replaying it leads to frustration. Two players can play at once, but with the language, camera, and violence issues few will want to play Shadow the Hedgehog a whole lot, let alone replay it. I feel money spent on this video game is money wasted. If I could get my money back from Sega, I would.
The controls are generally alright in Shadow the Hedgehog. The one problem with them is they do not adjust with the camera movements. If there had been some kind of intelligent design to the control scheme Shadow the Hedgehog would at least be playable.
Shadow the Hedgehog is a history
lesson in what not to do in a video game. The bad lessons are lengthy
indeed. I really hope that Sega keeps Shadow the Hedgehog in the vault,
and does not try and resurrect a darker, and much more repugnant version
of Sonic the Hedgehog. Ignore that fad Sega, and produce family friendly
video games.
