Nyko Wand Plus

I have to admit I was not too thrilled to find out about Wii Motion Plus. Nintendo started charging 20 dollars a pop for this little add on. Then there are not a lot of games that use it. Wii Remotes are already 40 bucks. That is one expensive controller when you add it together. Well our friends over at Nyko must have heard me whine about it because they have come up with the Nyko Wand+. Family Friendly Gaming was blessed enough to receive one for review.

All I can say is WOW! Okay I will say more than that, but you know what I mean. The Nyko Wand+ is fantastic. This little unit merges the Wii Remote, and the Motion Plus into one controller. The kicker is the Nyko Wand+ is essentially same size as the Wii Remote. Nyko has put it together, and allowed us to have the same experience without the extra length, and the same cost.

We were given the sleek black Nyko Wand+ controller with the protective sleeve. It looks good, even if it goes away from a lot of the Wii Remote traditional looks. Many of the buttons are larger, which works much better here in America. Yes I have big hands. Those tiny buttons on the Wii Remotes give me fits. The lights near the bottom of the unit shine bright, which is something else I like.

The rubber sleeve on the Nyko Wand+ feels better than the ones that come with the Wii Remotes. There are some nice grips which will help those wild players, and their television sets. Yes, I know about the wrist strap. Forgive me for never using them. Speaking of that strap, it has a nice slick feel, and I do not mind it touching my skin. The buttons feel better, and in my opinion work better.

I have been doing everything I can to abuse the Nyko Wand+. Thus far this is one tough little piece of technology. There is a definite intelligent design behind this unit. The snapping in and out of the Wii Motion Plus concerns me. The Nyko Wand+ alleviates that concern. No snapping requires since it is a self contained unit. The Nyko Wand+ comes with batteries so you may want to put in a rechargeable unit - and Nyko can help with that too.

The Nyko Wand+ is what the Wii Motion Plus should have been initially. If you have a Wii, and you want to get some Motion Plus games, then the Nyko Wand+ is the way to go. I find this controller to be very useful. In fact the Nyko Wand+ will be replacing our Wii Remotes very soon. I have had a lot of fun getting to play games with the Nyko Wand+, and hope Nyko continues to come up with innovative ideas.

Families can save money with the Nyko Wand+. It improves upon Nintendo's design in almost every way, shape and form. I am keeping my eye on Nyko as future technology is released. This company is making some serious waves in the video game industry. Everyone who wrote them off, needs to re-evaluate that assessment. The Nyko Wand+ is the best controller I have used all year long.
