Dairojo! Samurai Defenders
SCORE: 70
I really enjoy Tower Defense video games.
I acquired a taste for them recently, and have been learning the nuances
of this style of game. Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is one of the most
interesting tower defense games I have played. It is all samurai based
with things like spears, arrows, cannons, gunners, and generals. Various
items help out the player while their defenses are being attacked.
Dairojo! Samurai Defenders sells for 800 DSi points. That is in essence
eight dollars. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for
Dairojo! Samurai Defenders, Which we are very thankful for, and can now
aid ya'll in your purchase making decisions.
The graphics have a cute, and small look to them. There is an Orient
feel to the graphics, and the waves of enemies vanish into coins once
the player drains away their life bars. Paths the enemies walk on are
clearly defined as are where defenses can be placed. The most offensive
thing in Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is the Game Over screen. Okay part
of that is tongue in cheek, and part will make more sense in a minute.
Or longer, it just depends on how fast you read.
I really got into the music in Dairojo! Samurai Defenders. For some
reason it resonates with me. The little squeal sound the enemies make
when they are going to the hereafter got annoying after a time. Not as
annoying as losing a level. Trust me, we will get there. Yes I know this
is the second time I have referenced something. Third time will the be
charm.
Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is the most difficult tower defense kind of
video game I have ever played. In fact after many hours of game play I
have still not been able to defeat one level. I have tried all them
available to me at the start. I have tried various strategies, items and
more. I save up for powerful weapons like cannons, and I have tried
using as many spears as possible. I have tried a mixture, and tried
various defense placements. The outcome in the same. They over run me.
It would have been nice if the learning curve had not been a sheer cliff
from the beginning.
Even though I have lost every single level, every single time - and I
stopped counting long ago, I do believe there is a fair amount of replay
in Dairojo! Samurai Defenders. There are numerous castles, with some
unique and different kind of levels. The price is a little higher than I
would personally pay - especially if I read this review first. Those
that are interested in a real challenge should check out Dairojo!
Samurai Defenders.
I do believe the target audience of Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is
hardcore gamers. They will relish in the challenge. I do wish this
Nintendo DSi game was more approachable to more members of the family.
The main lesson in Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is to protect your
property from invaders. As much as people in border states may want to,
I do not think setting traps for invaders is a good idea. Dairojo!
Samurai Defenders is very solid, and with some tweaks a sequel would be
welcome.
