Power Rangers Samurai

I have never been a fan of the Power Rangers. Our kids have never really gotten into them either. I don't know what it is about them, but they never really appealed to us. I feel it is important to disclose that at the start of my review for Power Rangers Samurai on the Nintendo DS. If you are a fan of the Power Rangers then please email me and explain the things you like about them.

Power Rangers Samurai on the DS is a side scrolling action adventure game. You run across different enemies that you use your sword on. Players can pick from five different Power Rangers. There is red, pink, blue, green, and yellow. Some of the enemies fly so you will need to jump and attack very close together.

The graphics in Power Rangers Samurai on the Nintendo DS are not that great. I think they tried for a bit more than the machine could handle. Fights in Power Rangers Samurai are over pretty quickly. Slash them a few times with your sword, they fall down and die. Even boss battles are over pretty quickly, especially if you get in close and go to town. Yes Power Rangers Samurai rewards the aggressive and violent players.

The music in Power Rangers Samurai is pumping. I felt all powered up, and ready to bash in all kinds of bad guys. Well at least the game told me they were bad guys. This aggressive tone in Power Rangers Samurai is probably part of the reason it got an E10+ rating. I would think kids under ten are watching the Power Rangers television show.

The game play in Power Rangers Samurai is pretty straight forward. Get them before they get you. If they can take a few hits then keep getting them over and over again. Until they can no longer take any more hits. Or until your character takes all the hits they can take. There are few reasons to replay levels in Power Rangers Samurai. Once you complete a mission move on to the next one.

The depth of Power Rangers Samurai is fighting off evil. Standing up to them, and defeating them. The enemies in Power Rangers Samurai look like monsters or even demons. Christians can find a parallel to fighting the evil spiritual forces in the real world to the bad guys in this game. There are some intense super powers in Power Rangers Samurai that could have spiritual roots as well.
