Spy Kids All the Time in the World

Spy Kids All the Time in the World on the Nintendo DS is a fun little side scrolling action adventure game based on the movie. Two kids find out their mom is really a spy. They wind up on a quest to save the world from an evil character. Nothing like children coming to save the day. Adults are never capable of doing it in these kids movies- which is why Spy Kids All the Time in the World falls under fantasy.

Do not expect realistic looking graphics from Spy Kids All the Time in the World. Majesco Entertainment went a cartoonish look and feel which looks really nice. There are bad guys in levels that can be ignored or beaten up. I found the bad guys were not very intelligent. Bosses have to be beaten up. You can't turn the other cheek and win in this Nintendo DS game in that regard. Nor can you flee from violence.

The music has a digital feel to it in Spy Kids All the Time in the World which fits the visuals. Characters will explain what is going on in the storyline. I am not sure the levels matched up with what was going on, but I have not seen the movie yet. The concept of going to a movie where kids will be running around, screaming, throwing popcorn does not appeal to me. More parents need to learn how to discipline their kids.

The price is decent for this hand held game considering the amount of levels. Each of the levels is long enough to warrant an interest in playing them. I am not so sure about replaying them. Fans of the movie will enjoy a romp through the different kinds of levels in Spy Kids All the Time in the World on the DS. I am glad that I was provided a copy of this game to review.

Spy Kids All the Time in the World shakes things up in terms of the controls. The boy can double jump, the girl can use a grappling hook, and there are vehicle shooting levels. Two out of the three kinds of game play work marvelously. The levels designed for the girl frustrated me to no end. I had to get the grappling hook just right or I would fall. This led to deaths or having to do massive portions of levels over again. Neither of which were fun. I kept in mind that this is a game for kids. The other two game play styles are great for kids.

The kids in Spy Kids All the Time in the World are on their quest to save the world. I love the concept of good defeating evil. I am not as warm to children doing the work and adults being their support. I understand that kids love this concept, but it is not realistic. Children need to learn from the wisdom of their children. There are also other adults that can teach them important life lessons. I would like to see sequels to this kind of game - just the grappling hook section needs some work.
