Bug Invasion

Tower defense games come in all shapes, colors and sizes. I marvel at the creativity this little genre has carved out for itself over the years. Bug Invasion is one solid tower defense game that stands out. How does Bug Invasion stand out? We are squashing bugs. These nasty insects are trying to steal our sugar cubes. We need those for our coffee.

So we set out all kinds of zappers that revolve around food. Well most of them revolve around food. A soda drink cup with a straw will shoot at these nasty repulsive creepy crawlies. Bug Invasion has an amazing array of different kinds of critters that will come after us. Spiders, beetles, flies, and more in all kinds of different forms.

The graphics in Bug Invasion are very bright and colorful. Normally tower defense games relay a certain level of violence. I never felt that with Bug Invasion. When their life bars go away they pop out of existence. Boss characters have a few animations where they fall down before they vanish. These little bugs will appear all over the screens on Bug Invasion. We tap them as well as manage our defenses.

Tapping of those little bugs is extremely important. We are amassing a points that can be used for special powerful attacks, and to be used to upgrade our defenses in between levels. We start each level in Bug Invasion with a certain amount of coinage, and that is used to purchase defenses and to upgrade them. The powered up versions are recommended.

Bug Invasion can take some time. Levels are generally at a relaxed pace. I did not mind this personally.  It gave me time to think and amass points for the upgrades/super powered weapons. The fifteen tower defenses, twenty-seven enemies, and twelve unique bosses can seem light. Especially when we are talking one unique boss per level. The good news is it takes time to beat the levels in Bug Invasion. The bad news is there are only twelve levels.

I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was provided a promo code for this review. I found Bug Invasion to be an enjoyable diversion that is deep enough to warrant additional levels in the future. I like the concept behind this tower defense game. Most of us are not thrilled about bugs so it plays to the audience masterfully well.
