Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion
SCORE: 90
I did not think it was possible for the
concept of Disney Epic Mickey to work on the Nintendo 3DS. Guess what? I
was wrong. The brilliant minds over at Disney Interactive Studios pulled
it off in Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion. They did that and paid
homage to the old Super NES title.
An evil witch appears, and starts kidnapping the toons. She puts them
into her Castle of Illusion. It is up to Mickey Mouse and his paint
brush to save the day. We can paint objects into existence, or use
thinner to make them disappear. Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion is
a 2D side scrolling game.
If you take away one thing from my review let it be how Disney Epic
Mickey Power of Illusion looks. This hand held game is beautiful. The 3D
effects are neat, and help this game really shine. The different areas
in Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion look like the areas from the
movies. The characters look great.
Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion does contain some mild violence. We
can bounce on enemies with Mickey's behind. Mickey can go into a tornado
spin, and knock them around. He can also throw small globs of paint as a
projectile. We can also paint friends into existence who will perform a
variety of different attacks.
The music and little sound byte voices in Disney Epic Mickey Power of
Illusion are stellar. I found myself smiling as characters had
conversations. Expect to have numerous conversations as characters will
send Mickey on little quests. You want to do these because they can
increase the skills of Mickey and/or provide money. Money is used to buy
upgrades for Mickey at Scrooge McDuck's shop.
Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion encourages exploration. There can
be multiple paths, and characters hidden along one of them. Taking your
time and exploring all over the levels adds to the experience of this
3DS game. Families will get their moneys worth out of Disney Epic Mickey
Power of Illusion.
It was a real treat for me to be able to play and review Disney Epic
Mickey Power of Illusion. I am so very thankful Family Friendly Gaming
was provided a reviewable copy of this hand held video game. It is one
of the best hand held games I have played all year long.
