DreamCat

Running games have become all the rage lately on the app market. Players are running from all kinds of things. DreamCat is the latest side scrolling running game to cross our paths. In this game we play a cat who is dreaming of hamburgers. You know if it was lasagna I would instantly think of a well known feline character.

We have two buttons in DreamCat. They are run and dash. For me they are swapped on the screen from where I personally believe they belong. DreamCat is very nice to players by providing a double jump. I found myself using this double jump all the time. There are two ways to end a level in DreamCat. One we can fall into the clouds, or two we can run into something.

There is no death in DreamCat. If we fall into the clouds or run into something our cat wakes up. It was all a dream anyways. You know it was all in his head. Vellum Interactive is a group of believers, and they published the kind of a game we have been asking for - for years. Family Friendly Gaming appreciates that Christians can make games that are not trying to save everyone. Good clean, and safe games are another type of game that can be made.

DreamCat has a dreamy look to it. There are some interesting details to see - like the sun. The cat is okay, and has some decent animations. Many of the land masses in DreamCat repeat. It is very easy to make a mistake in DreamCat and end your run. I had problems connecting to GameCenter and submitting my scores.

The longer the player is running with the cat, the more difficult it becomes. We start slowly in DreamCat, but eventually momentum catches up with us. I have played numerous running games on the iPhone/iPod Touch. DreamCat is a fun game to play, and priced reasonably. I hope to see sequels in the future.
