Funny Wood HD
SCORE: 59
The WMG decided to take it easy, and
review an app that would be no problem. The app chosen was Funny Wood
HD. Unfortunately Funny Wood HD is one of the most difficult games this
reviewer has ever played on the iPad. Funny Wood HD is a hidden object
game that has learned nothing from G5 Entertainment's apps.
We have to find cleverly hidden items in Funny Wood HD. We have one hint
to use in each level. Unless we pay ninety-nine cents for ten more
hints. I would expect this in a free app. But Funny Wood HD costs
ninety-nine cents. To be fair the WMG was provided a code to play Funny
Wood HD on the iPad tablet.
The first world is a forest screen. And we have to search it in every
single level of that world. The image does not change until the second
world. The same thing repeats. Find so many items, and then find so many
more in the same screen etc. Funny Wood HD moves the hidden objects
around. After a few tries intelligent gamers can figure out some of the
hiding places. Sometime certain areas are used multiple times as hiding
places.
The biggest problem with Funny Wood HD is the frustration. Most hidden
object games give us a timer. That timer builds up the hints. If a
player is patient and completely stuck they can wait for the timer to
load and get another hint. Funny Wood HD does not work this way. If you
are stuck you have to figure out how to solve it, or just give up.
Funny Wood HD can be used to teach patience as well as finding what does
not belong. There are small animations of certain characters inside the
hidden object screens. The cut scenes are neat, and so are the tree
people. Expect kids to be confused by Funny Wood HD. It does not tell us
what to do in the beginning at all.
Funny Wood HD is insanely difficult. As if finding the items was not
difficult enough, it throws clouds in the way. We can grab the clouds
and move them out of the way, or wait for them to float on by. Either
way this added layer of difficulty was not needed. This reviewer
believes it was added due to how short the game is without it. There are
six game play screens to find the hidden objects.
So much for the nice leisurely, fun, and simple app the WMG was hoping
for. Funny Wood HD is a disappointment on multiple levels.
