GridBlock

I think I have 2K Play's business model down on the iOS platform. The games are free to download and free to try. For the tutorial and first world. If you want to play the rest of the game then families have an in app purchase. The cool thing about an in app purchase on the iPhone/iPod Touch is families purchase it one time, and can use it on multiple devices.

GridBlock is a cool puzzle game that is something fresh for me. There is this grid on a black background. Vaguely like Tron, and I mean very vaguely. There are blocks of a variety of colors, and places where these blocks need to go. Got all that? Our mission should we accept it, is to rotate our devices around until all of the block spots are filled.

GridBlock should be a breeze. But 2K Play threw all kinds of things at us. We can jump over other block, but not the walls. There are items to collect, and they are usually hidden behind the spaces where blocks set into place. Blocks have different colors on different sides. Which means we have to rotate them the right direction to fill in the holes. And a few other tricks.

I like how GridBlock looks, and I like how it sounds. This is one fun little puzzle game. It engaged my mind and my body. Okay so maybe a lot less of the body, but sliding them around on the grid could get wrist intensive. There are eighty levels in GridBlock in all. Remember you will have to purchase some levels to get the complete GridBlock experience. Its not too bad. A little higher than some apps out there.

GridBlock is the quintessential example of what can be done on this platform. I think this game could also work well on the PS Vita. But enough of that. It is fresh, fun, diverse, and engaging. I can not wait to see what else 2K Play comes up with in the future. Oh and GridBlock is safe for the entire family.
