HOP
SCORE: 79
HOP is a movie based on the Easter bunny.
An entire world of talking bunnies, and chicks is opened up in this
movie. EB is going to inherit the magical mantle of delivering candy to
children of the world. He wants to be a drummer in a rock band, so he
flees his family obligation. He runs into Fred who happens to be an
unemployed stay at home young adult. Who has little motivation to get
his life back on track.
The two characters form a friendship that benefits both of them. The
oddest thing about HOP is how few people are freaked out by a talking
rabbit. This is more plot driven than any reality based in our world.
The characters are quick to cover for EB when he impulsively lets
something out verbally. But then a dressed bunny should tip off more
people.
The animal characters look extremely real in HOP. Part of the time they
move like animals, and other parts they have more human motions. The
characters dress in a family friendly fashion. There is some crude humor
with things like pooping jelly beans. Humans are knocked out thanks to
the Pink Berets. Their blow dart guns stand out.
Parts of well known songs are in HOP. The voice acting has a British
flavor for the main bunny characters. The head chick has a more Latin
sound to him. The human characters are very American. Down to the
attitudes, and political correctness. Technically that is not all of
America. It would fit with Hollywood though.
Family Friendly Gaming was provided the Blu-ray plus DVD package of HOP.
There are numerous bonus features on these discs. Fans will be very
interested in the all new mini movie. I like behind the scenes and HOP
does not disappoint there. Some of them are the world of HOP, all access
with Cody Simpson, and Carlos on Carlos. Kid Crack Ups, the dance of Ken
Daurio and more can be found. Viewers can spend as much time on extras
as they can with the movie.
HOP features an interesting world. I am not really clear on how children
are picked by the Easter Bunny. Its not like the true meaning of Easter
with Jesus Christ dying for all of our sins. At the beginning of the
movie they can not get into China at all. The candy obsession in HOP
will only lead to cavities. Sadly HOP does not show this in any way
shape or form. After mentioning those concerns, HOP is safe for
families. Kids will find humor in various sections of HOP. Some adults
will as well.
