Hank Hazard
SCORE: 81
Hank Hazard is a hamster that dreams of
being a professional stunt artist. Thanks to Chillingo he gets his
chance in this iPhone game. And he has nothing to do with the Dukes of
Hazzard. That has two 'z's in the name. So he gets in his ball, and it
is up to the player to get him to the landing target spot. Expect more
to do than that though, as there are things to collect.
One of the most interesting things about Hank Hazard is each level has a
specific goal. Maybe do the level in so many moves, hit the target at a
certain speed, or other types are things are generally the goals.
Collecting as many star coins as possible is of course another goal in
Hank Hazard. Get them all, and the goal for a gold nut. Which unlocks a
bonus level.
Poor Hank Hazard can be killed in a variety of ways. Things like fire,
electricity, and spikes will all end your level. You can also get
completely stuck in certain levels. The game recognizes this quickly and
offers a restart. Hank Hazard is a cute little hamster with humorous
expressions throughout the various levels.
The music in Hank Hazard is fantastic. I love listening to it while
solving the levels in this hand held game. The special effect sounds fit
the theme and bring something fresh to the table. Sadly there is a
downside to this section for Hank Hazard as well. I acquired ninety star
coins to unlock the third world. The name of that world was shocking to
say the least. I am a little surprised Apple did not list language as
one of the descriptors.
There is a reasonable amount of levels in Hank Hazard for the
ninety-nine cents. Players will have to replay them to get all of the
bonus content. I will level with ya'll - Hank Hazard is one of the most
difficult physics puzzle games I have ever played on the iPhone/iPod
Touch. At times it felt like there was a little lag between tapping
somewhere and that item reacting.
Hank Hazard teaches us to take a risk. It also shows that taking those
risks will lead to physical damage. Parents can use Hank Hazard to
explain to children why we don't do certain things. In other words
actions have consequences. That world name is one aspect of Hank Hazard
that does not resonate here at Family Friendly Gaming. The majority of
the content is good in Hank Hazard. It is a shame that is what that
world is called.
