House Pest starring Fiasco the Cat
SCORE: 80
I love getting to play the final product
after seeing it at E3. I really love to see the various aspects of the
games improved from what I played back in E3 2012. House Pest from our
friends over at 2K Play is a perfect example. I had some concerns over
this iOS game at E3. Some of the mini games were tough. I was not
convinced the controls were all there. Yet here we are in September, and
House Pest is a gem.
Fiasco is a cute little cat that causes problems right before we have
visitors. So we have to clean up his messes, fix what he breaks, and
make the house presentable. House Pest starts out free for the first
room. That way families can try this hand held game before plopping down
the $2.99 to unlock the entire full game. The entire full game provides
all of the rooms.
Even though you purchase the full game you will still not be able to
access certain rooms. Why? We earn brushes in the mini games - one, two
or three of them. It all depends on how well we play the mini game.
Don't worry, any mini game can be replayed at any time. So if you mess
it up, or did not understand you can replay it to try and do better.
After beating all of the mini games in a room we can then select another
room or go back over mini games in that room.
The music in House Pest is comical. So are all of the animations of
Fiasco creating a new disaster for us to solve. Each mini game is timed
so the faster you do the better. We can also make mistakes in some mini
games. Like spelling a short phrase on the fridge. I am pretty sure
House Pest penalized me for that. I was not sure at first what I was
supposed to be spelling so I tried a letter somewhere it did not belong.
Live and learn you know?
There are a wide variety of mini games in House Pest. The controls range
and vary between all of these mini games. House Pest explains to us how
to play each of the mini games visually, and with words. I never once
had a problem figuring out what I needed to do. Actually doing it
sometimes was a different story. Squeezing the water out of the sponge
took a few tries. I was able to figure it out.
House Pest is a cute little app that is filled to the brim with high
quality content. I can tell that House Pest comes from 2K Play. The
little touches in the environment, or animations is a tell tale sign.
The nuances to the dialogue and music strums those notes masterfully. I
am very thankful that Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download
code for the full version to House Pest.
