Joe Danger 2 The Movie

Joe Danger 2 is the sequel to the popular game "Joe Danger"; a game made by the British independent developer, Hello Games. The game is a mix between racing and platform, where the objective is to get to the end of the stage while trying to accomplish as many challenges as possible. This was my first time playing a game from Hello Games, and I must say they did a pretty good job making this sequel. Joe Danger 2 consist on 6 main stages or acts, each one with around 5-7 levels in it, besides that you get the deleted scenes, which have even more levels in it, and they are pretty fun to play. You also get multiplayer and movie maker, which allows you to create your own levels and then share them.

Multiplayer is a blast, and it reminds of Mario Party. You can play with up to 4 players. The idea is to finish the level with as many tokens as possible. You get 3 tokens extra for finishing in first place and you lose tokens for crashing into obstacles. The level creator looks fun but I really did not get into it, but I bet a lot of people will make awesome levels and share them worldwide!

The plot emphasis is on Joe, a stuntman in Hollywood who has to do all kind of crazy stunts. Most of these stunts consist of Joe on motorcycles, track cars, snow mobiles, jet-packs, skis, and more. While doing all these crazy stunts, Joe has to evade evil robots, all kind of traps, bandits on motorcycle and even a giant pterodactyl. Completing objectives earn you stars that can be used to unlock new levels and also unlock new characters.

The controls are simple yet you really have to get used to them in order to complete some of the challenges, some of the levels are based on trial and error. So getting used to the controllers is the key to successfully complete the game 100%. This might take days or even weeks. I played for a few days and I merely completed 50%. When it comes to graphics they are really colorful, nothing mind blowing but it makes the worlds feels so alive. Overall graphics are pretty decent.

Something that Joe Danger 2 does pretty good is the sound department, the sound effects are really well made, even though the soundtrack is a little out of place. I wish it was a little more serious in some stages and not always the catchy tune. Sometimes there is so much going on that you really feel the pressure and adrenaline while jumping 200 ft in the air and while running away from a huge avalanche. Sometimes it does gets repetitive and you may feel a little bit bored, but this game is not supposed to be played in 1 sitting. Be sure to complete it by pieces, the experience will be 100 times more enjoyable.

Joe Danger is a game that has a lot to offer. Going back to replay some levels is essential since you won't get all the goodies in the first run. The replay value is high if you like these kind of games. You must enjoy running around and dodging crazy obstacles in order to fully enjoy Joe Danger. The difficulty does increase but it is nothing impossible, most of the times it just takes practice in order to complete a level and also learn where all the obstacles are. You won't see any blood nor profanity, so it is 100% kids-safe.

I did enjoy my time with Joe Danger, you can see the effort the developers put into the game. They tried to put as many content as possible in order to make the game as long as possible. If you plan on completing Joe Danger 100% you should get at least 10-25 hours of gameplay, depending of your gamestyle. Plus the online multiplayer and the level creator, for 1200 Microsoft points is a good deal, as long as you enjoy fast-pace platforming/racing. Without a doubt, Joe Danger was a Stunting experience.
