Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation Volume One
SCORE: 76
Back in 1997 Ninja Turtles The Next
Mutation debuted on television. This live action teenage mutant ninja
turtles show was distinctive like the movies. It did not however share
the same level of success as the movies. Shout Factory has worked a deal
with SABAN to release Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation Volume One on DVD.
For me this is a real treat. I am so thankful Family Friendly Gaming was
provided a copy of this two disc DVD set for this review. I never saw
Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation on television, so I can enjoy it now,
and share it with my children. Who were not very impressed with Ninja
Turtles The Next Mutation Volume One.
The costumes in Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation Volume One are slightly
better than say The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I am not going to dig
into the various issues we noticed while watching Ninja Turtles The Next
Mutation Volume One. Every episode has at least one karate fight in it.
The turtles rely heavily on kicks.
Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation Volume One starts out with Shredder
being the bad guy. It then moves to Dragons. Without spoiling too much
of the plot, let me explain a bit. A female turtle is introduced. She is
a magician in training. The Dragons are in the dream world. They trap
Splinter there, and lure in the turtles. They hitch a ride back and are
a constant thorn in the side of the turtles.
The various personalities are exhibited quite well in Ninja Turtles The
Next Mutation Volume One. Venus De Milo (new female turtle) is part
mystic and part comic relief. Since she does not understand our culture
she routine uses the wrong phrase. The other turtles correct her on a
routine basis. She helps shift the team mechanic in a variety of
important ways.
I noticed in the thirteen episodes of Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation
Volume One some interesting things. There are anti-human, and
anti-hunter sentiments expressed. Pro animal, and pro mystic arts are
things promoted in Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation Volume One. The jokes
are usually corny. I am pleased to see Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation
Volume One being released. We can now all view this piece of history.
