99Moves
SCORE: 78
99Moves is one of the
most difficult games I have ever played. That is saying quite a bit.
99Moves is one of those games that hardcore gamers will eat up. The goal
of any level in 99Moves is to get to the end spot. Well that is the goal
in most of the levels. A few of them have an interesting twist.
What kind of a twist could a hand held game like 99Moves hold? Well some
levels have the game play area stay the same. Objects come to the
player. So obstacles, extra lives (look like the character but green),
and the exit will come toward the player. Other levels have the exit
move around the level.
The biggest twist in 99Moves is the player only has ninety-nine moves.
If you use all of them up then you will only move in the last direction
you set. This almost always leads to death. Don't worry though, because
it is easy to play the level over again. The obstacles, and pathways in
99Moves leave little room for error.
The controls in 99Moves are simple. Move left, right, up or down. The
D-pad is used for these movements. It may sound simple on paper, but the
levels in 99Moves are insanely difficult. It is an accomplishment to
beat any level in 99Moves. Let alone the twelve I saw on the menu
screen.
99Moves teaches family members how to handle failure and defeat. How
well can you do facing your own mistakes in difficult situations. The
retro look to the graphics in 99Moves is a nice touch. I love the music
and vocal sounds in 99Moves. The closer the player is to walls the more
points they will score.
It was a real treat for me to play and review 99Moves. I have not had a
challenge like this hand held game in some years. It is not for everyone
though. If you can handle a very tough game, then check out 99Moves for
two dollars.
