Cling Thing

Cling Thing is a clever little app that lets the player take on the role of a spherical character. Okay, so yeah that has been done before on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Your character moves by launching out a sticky substance that can cling to certain surfaces. He will then be propelled towards what he latched onto.

Before you start having Spider-Man dreams let me remind you of two small problems. Your finger has to touch the screen where your character is going. It does not take long to lose sight of your character - literally. The second problem is the size of the screen on the iOS platform.

Cling Thing gets even more interesting once you can use the multi-touch function. Now two fingers, and portions of the hand(s) obstruct your view. I would move around my hands (while staying attached to the iPhone) to try and get a better view. A couple of times I had died and I was not even aware of it.

Cling Thing has a cute, and fun look to it. For some reason Cling Thing reminds me of the Muppets. The music in Cling Thing is okay. Your little ball can pop out of existence if he runs into hazards like spikes. Then you are just reset at the beginning of the level.

Like so many other apps, Cling Thing requires the player collects these objects. They look like spiny stars to me. Collect enough of them in one world to unlock the next world. Repeat this in the four world that currently are in Cling Thing. It says another one will be coming soon.
