Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
SCORE: 76
I have
never been big on the Donkey Kong Country games. In fact I have
personally not touched them since they were on the SNES. Other members
of Family Friendly Gaming Nation have played and reviewed them. When
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D arrived for the Nintendo 3DS I was super
excited to play it though.
The Wii game Donkey Kong Country Returns has been completely rebuilt
from the ground up. New options and features have been added to Donkey
Kong Country Returns 3D. A casual mode has been added so this extremely
difficult game can be made a little bit easier. A Super Guide has also
been added.
Since Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is a Nintendo game then you can
expect all kinds of hidden areas, objects, and items to collect. We can
spell KONG in Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D if we find all the letters
in the levels. There are also puzzle pieces that can be collected in the
levels.
Extra lives are earned by finding red balloons, purchasing them in
Cranky's Shop, getting a red balloon at the end of the level, or
collecting one hundred bananas. You will need them, just trust me on
that. I also strongly recommend using the Super Guide before getting too
frustrated in a level. You can always go back and replay the level
later.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D does one really cool thing in my humble
opinion. It reminds you to take breaks. As a professional video game
reviewer I just smile. Families appreciate neat little features like
that. I personally appreciate Nintendo being pro-active with issues like
video game addiction. Maybe they read my book Video Game Lies.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is a solid deep game with all kinds of
diversity to it. Players can jump on enemies, pound the ground to turn
them over, and punch certain enemies off the screen. The 3D effects look
absolutely awesome in Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. The jungle sounds
and track list are classic Donkey Kong.
All in all I found Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D to be a challenging
title that lives up to the Donkey Kong Country franchise. The small
graphics felt weird a few times, but I adapted to them. There are many
cool additions like multi-player modes, and the casual mode. Donkey Kong
Country Returns 3D does a really good job of targeting the broadest
grouping of people.
