Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan

Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan is a hardcore old school first person role playing game. Press the D-pad up and you move forward one space. Press it back you walk back one space. Press it to the right and you turn to see what is on your right. Press it to the left and you turn to the left.

Enemies are not visible in Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan. There is a gauge that gets more and more red the closer you are to an enemy though. Oh and super monsters are actually visible on the map. And they can school you with a quickness. They do things like one hit kills to one of your party members.

Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan lets you create thirty characters for your party. You can only bring along five at a time. When you die you go back to your last save. It is very easy to die in Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan. Hardcore role playing gamers will love it.

Casual gamers were not left behind though. Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan has a casual mode which is great for newcomers to this kind of a game. When you die in casual mode you are transported back to town. With all of your items, experience, and your characters are completely restored to life and fully healed. Dying in casual mode can be a quick way back to town.

Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan gives all kinds of important tips. There is not always good directions on how to find them. Take Skills for instance, the game tells you to spend your skill points. It is just not easy to find where that is done. One would think that is done under skills. Nope that is under Custom.

One of the key features to Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan is the mapping. The bottom screen shows the pathways you have walked on. Now you can put your own information on the map as you see fit. This can become engaging over time. I would have preferred things like doors be automatically put on the map, but that might just be me.

On the world map screen you can farm animals and vegetables. These are sold when you return to town automatically. Monsters will drop items when you beat them. These have to be sold one at a time by hand at first (later on you are told how to sell more than one at the same time). There is a limit to how many you can carry, and selling them to the shop keeper can produce new items. Things like more powerful weapons and armor. You will want to sell every monster drop you find as soon as you get back to town.

Money is very limited in Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan, so you will want to grind strategically. Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan is not the kind of a game anyone will blitz through. Slow and steady wins this marathon race. Not everyone will enjoy this kind of a role playing game either.

Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan contains enticement to lust issues, blood, violence, and language issues. There are also some spiritual issues in this hand held game. Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan lets players make moral choices along the way. Do you offer to help someone in need or do you choose to be selfish.
