Garfield's Wild Ride

Take Jetpack Joyride, give it a Garfield theme, and put it on the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. That is in essence what Garfield's Wild Ride is. As far as 2D side scrolling endless runners go, Garfield's Wild Ride is pretty good. As far as Jetpack Jotride clones go, Garfield's Wild Ride is pretty good too.

Garfield brings some wonderful name recognition, and cool characters. Garfield's Wild Ride may not be innovative some other apps out there, but its also not a complete rip off like too many apps out there. The effort put into the special effects and storyline stand out for me.

Garfield is getting some exercise, and running through the neighborhood collecting coins and lasagna. Unfortunately he is doing that in his sleep. Yes Garfield is dreaming about exercise. I suppose he has to start somewhere. My hope is after dreaming about exercise he would want to go and actually do it. Yes I know this is Garfield were are talking about.

The objects in Garfield's Wild Ride that we need to avoid are pillows. Yes pillows! Those things will wake up Garfield and end his run. There are also a variety of objects that will try and hit us like cars, giant flies and more. We have goals to achieve in each level which range and change.

Special power ups come in a variety of forms in Garfield's Wild Ride as well. My favorite is riding on the back of a giant Odie. Garfield runs along the ground while we are playing Garfield's Wild Ride. Tapping on the screen will have him start to float towards the ceiling. Holding down on the screen will bring him all the way to the top of the screen.

Garfield's Wild Ride is a fun little endless runner that stands apart from the crowd. It was not first to this game play style, but it has enhanced the genre in some neat ways. I love seeing all of the colors explode as I run into a pillow. The animation is neat, and the same goes for the music.
