Gunman Clive

So often in video game reviews we compare one game to another game from the past. There are times when we compare a game to a well known franchise. Why? Because it reminds us of that franchise. Gunman Clive reminds me of Mega Man. Not in the technology sense, but in the feel of the game.

Gunman Clive has players work their way through levels. There are checkpoints where Gunman Clive saves the players progress. So you will not have to complete the entire game in one sitting, or write down a password. What you will have to do is memorize enemy locations, and the patterns of the bosses. Those bosses are very clever too.

We don't earn new suits or teleport around. Gunman Clive does let us enjoy a wild west theme where we are on a quest to save the kidnapped damsel in distress. Some may not like the stereotype of women needing to be saved, but it does not bother me; and it gives us a reason to play Gunman Clive.

The cost of Gunman Clive is insanely cheap - $1.99. Which puts it on par with many apps on the iOS and Android platform. Check out the game's website for another link to those platforms. I am amazed at how long Gunman Clive is. Players are timed on how quickly they beat each level. I am one of those who took my time and smelled the tumbleweed.

The 3D effects in Gunman Clive are okay. It helps bring the atmosphere to life. Which can be a freaky thing, but one I did not mind. The graphical style in Gunman Clive is unique. I think it fits the wild west theme exceptionally well. We do shoot the enemies and they vanish into a puff of smoke when they are dead. Unless its a boss and then we endure some explosions.

I feel very blessed that I was able to play and review Gunman Clive on the Nintendo 3DS. This hand held game borrows from the past to make a challenging game with a nice twist in our time. Gunman Clive is not a game you will blow through - it will challenge even the most hardcore gamer. Especially Duck Mode.
