Happy Circus

Something I find funny is the label educational games. Why? Because all video games are educational. All video games teach something. Generally when the label educational games is used - it means there are good lessons. Lessons that can help the young. Skills that improve lives are included. That is right where Happy Circus comes in.

Two young children - Peter and Monica are happy to arrive at the circus. What a joy it is to see the rings, animals, and spectacle. Unfortunately the animals are not happy. So Peter and Monica beat mini games to give the animals their costumes. A piece of the costume is provided with each mini game completion (first time you beat that level).

The children add, subtract, find the right image to match the word, and spell out words with letters on the screen. Happy Circus is very easy for children at first. As they progress the activities get more difficult. Longer words, and more letters to choose from come to mind.

There are 3D effects in Happy Circus that look okay. Depending on the age of the child, parents will probably want to turn that off. I did mainly because of the drain on the battery life. The music in Happy Circus is upbeat, happy, and a pleasure to listen to. Kids get into that music while working on the problems.

The story mode takes under an hour to complete. I am an adult and beat it in like forty minutes. Expect kids to take longer. After the story mode, there is a story mode+. This adds a timer to the game. So you have to complete each activity in a certain amount of time. There is also a free mode after any level has been beaten in story mode.

Happy Circus is a great little downloadable game for kids on the Nintendo 3DS. There is an intelligent design to the lessons included in this hand held game. Kids have fun while working on these problems. It was a joy and a pleasure for me to play and review Happy Circus on the 3DS.
