Just Dance 2014
SCORE: 79
A lot has
been said about the Just Dance franchise over the years. It is nice to
see Just Dance 2014 make it to the next gen, and so close to the launch
of the new home consoles. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a
reviewable copy on the Xbox One. This is the first game we played with
the new Kinect sensor.
Let me start off by saying the Kinect sensor on the Xbox One is more
sensitive. I did not score as well in the Xbox One version of Just Dance
2014. In fact the Xbox One version of Just Dance 2014 is more hardcore
than the Xbox 360 version. You will need to step up your game to get
those five stars.
You saw the video on the Family Friendly Gaming Youtube channel. You saw
it on the front cover of Family Friendly Gaming issue Number
seventy-five. You read the press releases in the news section of Family
Friendly Gaming. You know the Xbox One version of Just Dance 2014 allows
for six dancers in certain parts of the game.
Organized chaos is the best way I can describe six dancers in Just Dance
2014. Also it can be a painful experience for those in the middle.
Certain arm movements, and leg movements for that matter can connect
with the person beside you. Let alone trying to do that pyramid. Make
sure you have enough room to have six people dance.
The plus side to Just Dance 2014 is you get some exercise. In fact I can
go around five to six songs before I need a break. Modes like Mash Up
are absolutely crazy. They keep families on their toes while dancing
around. It is easy to share your videos with friends and JDTV (also
Facebook and Twitter).
One thing I would like to see Just Dance offer going forward is the
ability to lock out, or lock down certain songs. I know there has been a
huge problem with lyrics in certain songs in Just Dance 2014. It would
be nice to allow families to lock those songs out of their games.
The next gen version of Just Dance 2014 is not that different in terms
of graphics, songs, and dance movements. Which is probably because it
was released so close to the last generation versions of the game. Still
if you have an Xbox One, and would like some exercise - Just Dance 2014
is the only dance game currently on the system.
