Just Dance 2014
SCORE: 80
Every
single year there are major video game releases that enter Family
Friendly Gaming Nation. Every single year there are games that we are
excited to play. Every single year we face exhausting experiences. For
many years we have been blessed with a Just Dance video game release.
This year we are reviewing Just Dance 2014 on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii
U. Family Friendly Gaming was blessed to receive a reviewable copy on
the Xbox 360. Gaming on Kinect is so much better. At least until the
Xbox One arrives. Then six family members can compete in certain songs.
There are many reasons the Just Dance franchise is the number one
dancing video game. The music, the dances, the modes, being active,
presentation, Just Dance TV, World Dance Floor, On Stage, Battle, Mash
Up, and more. Just Dance 2014 delivers these and more.
You will sweat and lose some weight thanks to Just Dance 2014. Trust me
on that. You might also learn some important lessons. Like how much fun
it is to work with someone else on a dance. Or maybe three of your
family and/or friends.
One of the coolest things in Just Dance 2014 is all of the different
ways a song can be played. Each time you dance a song you earn coins.
These can be used to unlock additional modes for a wide variety of
songs. This will enhance the replay value. As will DLC that is already
here, and will continue to arrive for months to come.
The two problems the ESRB denoted in Just Dance 2014 are the lyrics and
mild suggestive themes. These are both present in Just Dance 2014. I
wish there had been safe versions of certain songs included. Same with
certain dance moves. By the way, my hips do not move like the ladies. So
I am not equipped to dance that way.
Just Dance 2014 comes with one highly controversial and extremely
divisive song that I want to focus on. What is this shocking song? I
Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry. The song can be skipped, like we did here
at Family Friendly Gaming. But I felt it was important to shine a light
on this song that millions of families find offensive. This is not the
only song with offensive and suggestive lyrics. There are others. Click
here for the full track listing. Families need to check out the
lyrics before purchasing.
The overall experience with Just Dance 2014 is a positive one. We had a
blast dancing to a variety of songs from different eras. We sweated it
out, laughed at videos, and enjoyed the amazing presentation. Ultimately
like the Lady Gaga song says: "Just Dance."
