Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey

Family Friendly Gaming was blessed to receive a reviewable copy of Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey on the PS Vita, then the Nintendo 3DS, and finally the Nintendo DS. Normally we are all over as many different versions of a game as possible. Especially the Lego games.

Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey on the DS is disappointing visually though. If this game had been released on the DS first, then 3DS, and finally PS Vita it would be a different story. Using the same content in the other hand held versions, and diminishing the graphics heavily is very noticeable.

Many of the same videos, levels, and areas are in the Nintendo DS version of Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey. They sadly do not look as good or sound as good. I would not expect them to since the DS hand held is not technologically advanced as the 3DS or Vita.

I am very curious what the extra time was needed for. Some of the controls in Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey on the DS make little sense. In fact using levers was a frustrating experience at first. I had to read the on screen instructions instead of hitting buttons as I thought it was showing.

I was hoping the DS version of Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey was going to be a completely different game than the other two. Unfortunately it is a shell of the others. Which is a real shame because it would have been awesome to give Nintendo DS owners their own different game. Plus it could have brought in Nintendo 3DS owners.

If you own Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey on the 3DS or PS Vita, then you will pass on Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey. If you do not have a Nintendo 3DS, or PS Vita, and you are used to Nintendo DS graphics you may want to check out Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey on the DS. There is a deep Lego game in here with long levels.
