Liberty's Kids The Complete Series
SCORE: 64
I had
never heard of Liberty's Kids before this year. Probably because I avoid
PBS content like the plague. Why? We will get into that in this review.
Mill Creek Entertainment should be commended for putting together a
massive package in one DVD case. There are four DVDs stacked on top of
one another.
Liberty's Kids The Complete Series is forty episodes that last around
fourteen and a half hours. Yes that is a lot of content to watch and
review. That theme song is still stuck in my head. I am not very pleased
about that because of what the theme song in Liberty's Kids The Complete
Series talks about.
What bugs me about the theme song? It claims truth rises and falls. It
tells viewers to stay true to their hearts, and to look at events
through their eyes. In other words redefine things to fit into your
opinion. Another term is history redefinition. One of the reasons I
steer clear of PBS content.
The problem with redefining the past, present, words, institutions,
cultures, etc. is you open the door for everyone else to redefine it as
they see fit. When you refuse to respect the precedences of the past you
grant permission for all others to do the same thing going forward. What
is to stop me from setting it back to where it belongs? The people who
redefine have no moral high ground.
Liberty's Kids The Complete Series loves to hammer a couple of extreme
fanatical liberal beliefs. It is constantly bringing up slavery. Here is
the thing. I never had a slave, so why obsess over something from a
couple of hundred years ago? Why not focus on slavery going on today in
Africa and Asia? You can actually do something about that. But no, they
want to berate us for what happened hundreds of years before we were
born. Plus I am part Cherokee.
The voice acting in Liberty's Kids The Complete Series is generally
good. The flip flops of some of the characters and things they attack
get annoying very quickly. They look at the past with the liberal
redefinition lens. I found it quite interesting that they left out
things like Ben Franklin's womanizing.
Too often in Liberty's Kids The Complete Series characters are talking
at one another instead of dialoguing. This happens all the time when
political left and political right are talking. Too often the left does
not listen. When they get to provide the only voice, like in this show -
they allow no responses and no rebuttals. Just like that tyrant King
George.
Another interesting concept in Liberty's Kids The Complete Series is to
not blame the British soldiers. They are only following orders. That
defense did not work for Nazi's, and I doubt liberals would accept it if
someone was polluting the environment for a company.
For too much of Liberty's Kids The Complete Series, it is against the
revolution. It takes every opportunity to show the Founding Fathers are
ugly, nasty, rude, and hate filled men. The British and their
sympathizers are shown as noble, kind, and loving. Liberty's Kids The
Complete Series makes points that modern day journalists do not even
bother to obey or follow.
Racism and sexism are big buttons for Liberty's Kids The Complete
Series. It wants to repeatedly hit them. They need some filler so bring
up race or sex to further divide Americans. The best joke in Liberty's
Kids The Complete Series is when it claims to tell the truth. I could
not stop laughing for hours.
One of the most disturbing moments in Liberty's Kids The Complete Series
is when it decided to attack Christians. The venom and hatred against
Christians is truly disturbing. It shows the ugliness and hatred in
those spewing such filth. Especially when we realize Christian beliefs
are what founded America. Not that this show could find time to mention
that.
Liberty's Kids The Complete Series attempts to be dramatic in multiple
places. The problem is it loses its believability very early on. There
are important historical lessons in this show. Too often they are
drowned out in history revisionism, and liberal propaganda.
I really thought I was going to enjoy Liberty's Kids The Complete
Series. Sadly thanks to tyranny I have experienced in my life under
liberal rule, it opened old wounds. They have the freedom of speech to
make such things, and I have the freedom to respond as I see fit. The
only question that remains is: "will they celebrate my diversity or
not?"
