Lola’s Math Train

Lola’s Math Train is one of the first educational kids games we are playing on the Nintendo 3DS. Which is awesome because we are very happy to see it. The previous prevailing wisdom was Nintendo would not allow a kids game on the 3DS due to the eye development issue. Lola’s Math Train solves this problem by having no 3D effects. This hand held game is completely in 2D. There is not an option to play Lola’s Math Train in 3D.

Even without the 3D Lola’s Math Train looks great. I love the friendly animal characters, and their smooth animations. Bubbles around numbers are nice and transparent. They pop a neat little way when the right answer is put in the right location. Kids love the colorful look in Lola’s Math Train.

The music is fantastic in Lola’s Math Train. It is cheerful, upbeat, happy, and joyful. The verbal directions are perfect. You may have to assist your child with some of those directions if they do not understand. Once they get the directions to the different kinds of games, they usually remember what to do next time.

There are three difficulty settings in Lola’s Math Train. They are easy, medium and hard. In easy kids pick out a number, and find a letter among numbers, and more. When the child graduates up to hard they are adding/subtracting numbers, finding which two numbers equal the end number, and more.

Different activities in different difficulty settings is one of the things that can extend the lifespan of Lola’s Math Train. At just $3.99 it is a fair price for a downloadable game. Children get a kick out of filling up their train at the end of each little session. You may need to clean up the bottom touch screen after your child has finished playing Lola’s Math Train.
