Here I am in September looking at a Christmas related product. I have not gotten to attend a harvest party, or prepared for Thanksgiving. Let alone put out the manger scene, and studied the miraculous birth story of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I can not fault Shout Factory for wanting to get into Family Friendly Gaming Nation at the front end of the tsunami. My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas is the DVD I am discussing in this review. It is the older version of My Little Pony, not the newer upgraded Friendship is Magic.

My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas contains themes of redemption and friendship. Minty makes a mistake that causes their candy cane beacon to break. She tries to tell other ponies but they are so busy with Christmas decorations they will not listen.

What does Minty do in My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas? She decides to do all the work herself. She gives away socks to the other ponies. In essence she tries to take the place of Saint Nicholas. The irony of that is so deep - at least to me.

Some people in the world have tried to ignore the true meaning of Christmas - the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. They have tried to replace Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for our sins with Santa and the Easter Bunny. Sort of a: "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain." So Minty trying to replace Santa who is trying to replace Jesus is something I find funny.

My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas is forty-five minutes long. So it is a bit on the short side. There are two sing-a-long songs included as bonus features. I also checked and found My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas is selling for a very low price right now.

The whole socks into stocking aspect of My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas was a neat AHA moment for kids of all ages. My Little Pony A Very Minty Christmas is cute and clever. As long as the purposeful exclusion of Jesus does not bother you - you can enjoy this fantasy imagination filled animation.
