Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall
SCORE: 74
Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall is the latest Nancy Drew game from Her Interactive. This is mystery number twenty-eight if you are keeping count. Making this one of the longest running franchises in the entire industry. This time we investigate a kidnapping in a dysfunctional rich family.
One of the initial goals of Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall is to discern whether a ghost is real or not. There are creepy things that happen in Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall. Not just what you hear from characters in the game, but things you will also see while playing this Personal Computer game.
The eerie feel to Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall is encompassed in the audio and the visual. This may be the darkest looking Nancy Drew game I have ever played. I am very surprised to see the ESRB dropped the normal 'E10+' rating of this franchise to an 'E' rating. With the supernatural and dark themes I would expect an 'E10+' to a 'T' rating.
Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall is not a game for children. It can easily create nightmares. Remember you will be woken up when your kids have nightmares. I am an adult and Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall gave me nightmares. Certain parts of this game sent chills down my spine too.
There are two modes in Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall - Amateur, and Master. Amateur will offer hints in case you can not figure out how to do something. The difficulty of this PC game is really high. Even after receiving all three hints on something I had issues finishing the task. Why? I had trouble finding things. I knew it was in a certain room, but finding it in that room was another story entirely.
Players spend much of their time in
Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall talking to other characters. The voice
acting is filled with emotion so I did not mind. But at times it got
repetitive and boring. Especially when I needed one character to talk
about something before I could ask another character about it.
I believe Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall is the darkest and most
difficult Nancy Drew game I have ever played from Her Interactive. There
are more adult themes than I remember in previous games in the
franchise.
