Planes
SCORE: 87
Do you
know what continues to impress me about Disney? They consistently churn
out good movies for families. Take Planes for example. It may not be the
perfect movie for families. But it ranks really high for products
released this year. Plus it brings us back to the world of Cars.
As the millions upon millions of Family Friendly Gaming Nation readers
know - Cars is huge. Cars is one of the mega-franchises. The movies,
games, toys, and more continue to be a major part of our lives. Which
means Planes has some mighty big wheels to roll into.
Planes is a fun, entertaining, and exciting movie to watch. Dusty is the
unlikely hero who has heart. He puts others in front of himself. He
helps others instead of leaving them to crash. He does the right thing,
and tries his hardest. He works diligently to succeed. He is everything
we strive to be, and teach our children to be like.
Throughout the movie Dusty is mocked by other characters. He wins most
of them over with kindness and caring. He proves that even though he is
a crop duster he can achieve great things. He needs a little help from
his friends, and strong determination - which are also great lessons for
families.
Family Friendly Gaming was provided the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy of
Planes. Which means this movie can be enjoyed in a variety of venues.
There are also some neat bonus extras on these discs. Deleted scenes,
Klay's Flight Plan, Top Ten Flyers and more. My personal favorite is
Franz's Song.
Planes is a fun racing movie with a very predictable plot. Which is okay
because of how many feel good moments there are. I loved seeing how
Dusty impacted those around him. The most special moment in Planes is
when his friends provide for him in his time of need.
Dusty avoids getting revenge on those who wronged him in Planes. This is
a wonderful lesson that not everyone may notice right away. He competes
to the best of his ability within the rules. He does not cheat like some
other planes. This movie shows that even though you may get knocked down
by cheaters you can pick yourself up again and give your best effort.
There is also a mild moment where the religious belief of reincarnation
is taught.
