Tanktastic

Tanktastic is a free app on the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. It is also on the Android devices. This game is a MMO. Meaning it is massively multiplayer online. It is very easy to create your own room for a death match, team death match, or capture the flag.

The tanks in Tanktastic shoot at one another until their health is gone. At that point the tank becomes a black husk that explodes. If you are the one killed, then you will be given a chance to respawn in a few seconds. Or you can pick a different room to play in.

The downside to Tanktastic is you need other players. If there is a lull in the community you will find yourself bored waiting on other players. Since Tanktastic is a free app you will need to work diligently to save up enough for the better tanks. Or purchase them with real money. Tanktastic allows gamers to buy victories via better tanks.

The sensitivity of the controls can be adjusted in Tanktastic. This is crucial since they can be touchy. I tried shooting other tanks multiple times only to find my turret moving away from the target. That lead to multiple deaths on my part. Older tanks are clunkier, and the environments are not destructible.

I laughed as my monster tank was stopped by a small wall, or a tree. In the real world my tank would have plowed right through those things. Trying to back out was challenging at times. These minor issues lead me to the opinion that Tanktastic would be much better with a controller of any sort.

Parents will want to monitor their children. The names of other players may be offensive to you. The violence is at the level of other tank MMO games. The menu screens are slick, and have an intelligent design. The game play can be fast and furious. I found there was usually numerous rooms open and populated with players.
