The Island Castaway 2

Many stories came my way about how much fun The Island Castaway is to play. Many stories entered into my ears on my head about the tribal nature of The Island Castaway. Many stories were told by campfires over the few changes the game needed in a sequel.

Are you curious to find out if The Island Castaway 2 implemented those improvements? My answer to that question was yes. Which is why I volunteered to play this iPad game. The requested improvements were not implemented. In fact The Island Castaway 2 diminishes some of the things that made the first game so good.

Players deal with spirits, practicing witch craft, and false gods in The Island Castaway 2. The islander aspect is increased in The Island Castaway 2. The collecting of items, hunting, fishing, cooking, and gathering food has been diminished. The storyline is also not nearly as good.

The Island Castaway 2 feels shorter to me. Probably because it is so much easier, and the island is discovered so much faster. Some islanders are dressed better, and some could have used additional clothing. All of the spiritual content is not pleasant.

I had some really high expectations for The Island Castaway 2. So that is where part of my disappointment comes from. The first game was so good that it would take an exceptional game to even come close to living up to it. The Island Castaway 2 feels like it was thrown together to capitalize on the success of the previous game.

The artwork is impressive in The Island Castaway 2. Some of the voice actors did not fit the characters in my opinion. The music is nice, and the tutorial aspects are neat. Generally the map shows you where characters are - when you need to find them. There is enough food to keep your stamina up, and plenty of recipes to use.
