Toki Tori
SCORE: 90
The Wii U is limping along. You are not seeing ads for it on major gaming portals like Family Friendly Gaming. Nintendo is making moves to correct the ship. But obviously they are not making all of the right decisions. Which is why it is fantastic to see games like Toki Tori making it to the Wii U.
Some gamers may complain that Toki Tori is a port. Other gamers may comment that they already played Toki Tori 2. Why play the original game? Series comprehension. Playing Toki Tori can make more gamers appreciate the huge upgrade that became Toki Tori 2.
The puzzles in Toki Tori are crazy insane. They start really easy at first. Before you know it you are using that rewind button and finding a better path. Maybe you need to end with a certain egg. Maybe tools need to be used in a different order, or in different areas of the level.
The intelligent design to the levels is very apparent. Beating all of the levels in Toki Tori takes time, patience, careful planning, thought, and sometimes a small bit of luck. Creatures in the levels can end your level if you make contact with them. Things like a freeze gun can be the difference.
Why support games like Toki Tori? So we can have more of them in the future. This game is thought provoking, and avoids violence. Some people at Family Friendly Gaming think putting animals on ice, or ghosts in lava is violent. I disagree. I see it as non-violent. You make that call for your family.
The coolest thing about Toki Tori is
getting to play that yellow bird. No not that one from Sesame Street. Or
that one from Peanuts either. I am talking about the exercise challenged
yellow bird in Toki Tori. He is a cute little critter who belongs in the
same paragraph as Big Bird, and Woodstock. Oh wait I just did that.
