Warlords RTS

Warlords RTS is not related to the Warlords game from the 1980s. The RTS is the first clue. New to video games? Unclear what RTS stands for? It stands for real time strategy. Normally players amass resources, build armies, and go out to conquer their enemies.

Since Warlords RTS is on the iPhone/iPod Touch platform expect there to be less content than a Personal Computer RTS game. In fact we do not mine for ore, gold, or cut down trees in Warlords RTS. We earn money for every second that goes by. The more areas we conquer, the more troops we can have.

Warlords RTS comes with fine looking art work. The warlords are heroic looking - most of them. The different classes look like elves, dwarves, and more. There is some enticement to lust, magical images, and violence as the little characters destroy one another.

Controlling Warlords RTS can be a pain. Players can touch the warlord to move him. Players can touch any individual character to move them. Groupings of characters can be moved, or they can be split. Tapping in an area will grab all characters near there. What I intended with my taps did not always materialize. I ran into one issue with Warlords RTS in the controls. I tried to tap a character, and would miss slightly. This hand held game would move the last character(s) selected to that area. Many times moving defensive characters out of the way so the computer had a free shot at my base.

Bases are important in Warlords RTS. Protect them at all costs. Destroy the enemies bases as quickly as possible. The destruction of a base ends the levels. Your warlord can die, and will come back after a pie bar fills up. Troops, and the warlord can be upgraded in Warlords RTS. The warlord can also wear armor and find new armor in the levels. There are in app purchases, which are silly after paying for a game. Generally replaying levels will earn enough gems to upgrade at least one of the troops. It also can provide better armor and weapons for your warlord.

Warlords RTS is being marketed and sold as a real time strategy game. To me it feels more like a fluid tower defense/offense game. This iPhone game can be fun at times. It gets hard when your troops are not leveled up enough. So grinding is required in Warlords RTS. Unless you want to pay more money to purchase gems.
