Wurdy

It seems like every couple of weeks to at least every month there is some new social app out there on the market. They encourage people to play games together. No, the WMG is not talking MMO's - but things like word games. There are so many of them, that it is nearly impossible to keep track.

Wurdy is released into this environment. Wurdy is essentially verbal charades on the iPhone. Make sure you have the latest, greatest, newest device to be able to play this app. Older devices will not even load Wurdy - which is a real disappointment. Not every family can upgrade their devices every two to three years. Plus it is more economical to get as many years out of any expensive electronic device as you can.

Privacy advocates will be concerned with how much access Wurdy wants. It wants to use the camera to see you, and the microphone to hear you. If you turn these things down, then Wurdy just crashes when you try and play it. This was tested multiple times here at Family Friendly Gaming. Refusing to let it use the microphone just locks the app up when a game is started.

There is nothing to stop players from just hitting next over and over again while playing. Wurdy is a social game, but it does not check to make sure you are playing with someone. It winds up locking up when it is the second players turn and there is no second player. Or maybe it was the microphone problem manifesting itself. It can be difficult to figure out why Wurdy kept locking up. Family Friendly Gaming was not being paid to be trouble shooters.

Hopefully the kinks can be worked out of Wurdy. If you want a single player game then you will quickly pass on Wurdy. There is no single player aspect. There are multiple in app purchases, which is not needed after you already paid for the app. The concept behind Wurdy can be played without the app with flashcards or families can write words down on paper.
