Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster
SCORE: 58
Want to
know something scary? Family Friendly Gaming has been around long enough
now to review the original versions and the remastered versions of
products. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is a classic example. Final
Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy X-2 were reviewed on the Playstation 2 by
FFG. Here and now we are reviewing the Remaster version.
It is nice to see Square Enix doing compilations like this. Maybe in a
console generation or two the Final Fantasy XIII games will appear
together on one package. Because of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy
X-2 we can see sequels to Final Fantasy games became feasible.
Role playing gamers showed they would purchase sequels to their favorite
worlds. They were willing to return to certain fantasy worlds for a
second play though. Will they want to play through these PS2 games again
all these years later? Square Enix is hoping they are.
Family Friendly Gaming was treated to a copy of the Limited Edition of
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on the Playstation 3. The FTC requires
we disclose that. The FTC does not care about the thousands of dollars
worth of coverage we provide - which is something we are not paid for.
That statement is in line with the fairness doctrine.
The package comes in a larger case that is like a book. In fact it has
pages of artwork related to the games within Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
Remaster. There is one disc with Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X
Eternal Calm, Final Fantasy X-2, and Final Fantasy X-2 Last Mission.
There is also bonus audio and credits.
Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy X-2 are turn based role playing
games. Lengthy quests with plenty of surprises. Level up your players,
and use the sphere grid for additional skills. Final Fantasy X-2 is all
about changing the garbs. Starting with an all female cast its about the
different dresses.
Since these are older games there are issues here and there. Take for
example we can not move the camera around. This makes Lightning Returns
Final Fantasy XIII look brilliant. Movies can not be stopped in many of
these games. Which can be frustrating when you die and have to sit
through the same movie a second time.
Expect one to two hundred hours of game play out of Final Fantasy X/X-2
HD Remaster. Plenty of characters, areas, quests, and long stories to
get through. Final Fantasy X-2 Last Mission is like Pokemon Mystery
Dungeon - just with characters from Final Fantasy X-2.
The ESRB descriptors catch most of the issues families will have with
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. We have blood, violence, bad language,
and excessive enticement to lust. It is this reviewers hope that one day
there will be family friendly versions of these games made - ones that
leave the majority of the bad content on the developers floor. Final
Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster also contains religious teachings that are in
direct conflict with the majority of American's professed beliefs.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has been modernized on the Playstation
3. It looks better - especially the cut scene movies. The music will
bring back memories of older Final Fantasy games since Final Fantasy
X/X-2 HD Remaster pays homage to them. Expect hours to be spent on
grinding to be able to beat certain bosses.
If you are a turn based RPG fanboy then you should pay attention to
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. If you loved the games the first time,
and want to see the new content then you should also pay attention to
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. I do believe Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
Remaster is for the adult members of the family. Teenagers with raging
hormones may have problems with Final Fantasy X-2.
