Indie Gala Bundle
SCORE: 58
You may
have heard of Indie Gala Bundle before. They are selling bundles of
games together for low prices. Family Friendly Gaming was provided with
and Indie Gala Bundle that contains Battlepaths (on Desura), KAMI,
Little Racers STREET, Probably Archery, Supreme Commander, Supreme
Commander Forged Alliance, Hostile Waters Antaeus Rising, and Humanity
Asset.
The majority of these games are definitely indie. I question how indie
the Supreme Commander games are. Especially when a major publisher like
THQ shows up at the start of the game. Hostile Waters Antaeus Rising
looks like an old Playstation or Playstation 2 home console game. The
woman has her arms and legs out while standing. Not the most natural
looking.
Battlepaths is an action adventure RPG. You move towards the enemies to
damage them. When your health falls below one hundred HP then you can
walk around to regain it - back up to 100. The tutorial is nice, the
animations are glitchy, and the graphics are meh. Oh and the controls
are on the clunky side - a theme most of these games share.
KAMI is the real stand out title in this Indie Gala Bundle. Players must
solve puzzles that involve getting the entire page to be one color. What
that color is does not matter. The Orient sounds fit the theme, and this
is a great game with plenty of mind numbingly difficult levels.
Little Racers STREET is like a modern day RC Pro-AM. The tracks look
nice, but there are few areas to free roam. The cars are okay looking.
The controls are difficult to learn. Money is earned for each race.
Whether its career, quick, daily challenge, or free roam.
Probably Archery is the worst game in the bunch. The irritating controls
will make most gamers rage quit in just a few minutes. Its hard, and the
game is violent - mostly you getting killed. Supreme Commander, and
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance are the most unfriendly to families.
There is bad language, violence, small graphics, and the game is very
slow and boring.
Hostile Waters Antaeus Rising is retro PC gaming at its worst. There are
dark graphics, a dark future, bland old looking graphics, water
vehicles, dead soldiers being used, enticement to lust, and confusing
controls. If you missed this game years ago - you only missed
irritation.
Humanity Asset is a nice looking 2D side scrolling action adventure
shoot and kill everything game. Why are we murdering all these same
looking guys? To collect more ammo and new guns? The WASD controls are
screaming for a controller.
The Indie Gala Bundle does change games as time in the real world
progresses. It is an interesting idea. I wonder if they are trying to
worm their way into the popularity of indie games right now. KAMI is the
only game out of this bunch I will ever play again.
