Lego The Hobbit

The Lego video games have become legendary in the video game industry. They reach across the aisle because they have something for the hardcore gamers, and they have something for the family gamers. TT Games makes a well rounded product.

Not only is Lego The Hobbit a well rounded game, it is also bringing new things to the table. I never know what new concepts and game play mechanics TT Games will include. Lego The Hobbit brings two important new things - the buddy moves, and collectible items (like boards and rope). Those items are used to create the super builds. So we collect more than just studs in Lego The Hobbit.

Lego The Hobbit follows the path of the two movies. We visit iconic places, and get to traverse between many of them. This is my personal favorite part because there is so much hidden in this home console video game. Secret areas, hidden characters, collectible items and more.

Family Friendly Gaming was provided Lego The Hobbit on the Xbox One. The first thing I noticed is how amazing this game looks. It shines and shimmers like a diamond in the sunlight. I could barely start playing because the graphics were so impressive.

We get various sound bytes from key moments in the movies. The humor in Lego The Hobbit is strategically placed. Lego The Hobbit is not as funny as say a Banana's comic, but this Lego video game has its moments. A couple of us at Family Friendly Gaming had laugh out loud moments thanks to Lego The Hobbit.

The game play in Lego The Hobbit is vastly improved from Lego games in the past. There are visual hints on what needs to be done in certain areas. Like a picture of the character that is needed to interact with a certain device. Or two characters side by side to tell us we need to team up. Even the right button to press and when. I did not get stuck once in Lego The Hobbit. Which is fantastic to see.

The Everyone ten years old and older only rating comes from the action violence. We hack and slash Lego characters with swords, shoot arrows, drop objects on their heads and more. Some of the humor involves things like characters falling on top of one another.

I really enjoyed my time with Lego The Hobbit. These Lego video games get better each and every time. I hope TT Games continues to improve this franchise in the coming years. I am also hoping for a Lego City Undercover 2 video game to be coming out in the near future.
