Machines at War 3

Family Friendly Gaming has written about it for years now. The rise of indie games in the industry is good in some regards and bad in others. Too often indie games do one thing really well. Too often the developers are too close to the products to see their game through the eyes of others.

I am the second reviewer at Family Friendly Gaming to play Machines at War 3. The first gave up on the game due to glitches. What kinds of glitches? Vehicles driving back and forth in a short space instead of exploring. Or troops sitting there not doing anything after commands were given.

My biggest problem with Machines at War 3 is the lack of military intelligence. The military is methodical, and they work together. I sent my vehicles exploring and they scattered. It was stressful trying to keep track of what was going on in six different locales.

If keeping track of them was not problematic enough as is, some of them got into trouble. Guess how well they defended themselves? Not at all. Some got killed off before I swapped their command to allow them to fire back when being attacked. Again military realism is lacking.

After they died or killed the enemy characters, I had to tell them to go back to exploring. Otherwise they sat there, or glitched going back and forth next to a river. Thanks to all of this, and the enemy outnumbering me, I experienced failure. If you want to know how you handle defeat time and time again, then you need to play Machines at War 3 immediately.

The violence is the biggest concern families will have with Machines at War 3. There is also enticement to lust. Machines at War 3 will appeal to the hardcore RTS (real time strategy) gamer. Casual gamers, and family gamers are going to want to pass on this downloadable only video game.
