Max the Curse of Brotherhood
SCORE: 76
Max the Curse of Brotherhood takes Max &
the Magic Marker and develops it. Max is annoyed by his brother. So he
Giggles how to get rid of his brother on his laptop. He chants a magic
spell and a giant hand takes his brother. Max immediately realizes his
mistake and jumps in after him.
The first lesson Max the Curse of Brotherhood teaches us is what is in
the Holy Bible - to stay away from magic. From there we start to
play an action adventure puzzle game. Think of Limbo, except Max the
Curse of Brotherhood looks good, has color, and without all the blood
and gore.
The puzzles in Max the Curse of Brotherhood involve interacting with the
environment. Pressing the right trigger button on the controller brings
up the ability to draw earth, vines, branches, water, and more. Max
stands still while you are drawing. There are timed events where drawing
occurs while Max is falling/flying through the air.
Players will die often and early in Max the Curse of Brotherhood. The
continuation points are placed liberally through the levels. The chase
levels in Max the Curse of Brotherhood are some of the most difficult
since few mistakes can be made.
Near the beginning of Max the Curse of Brotherhood we run into an
elderly lady who turns herself into the magic marker. She will talk to
Max, and offer hints throughout the game. She gave me needed clues at
just the right point in multiple areas.
Max the Curse of Brotherhood looks amazing. I appreciate how this home
console game does not focus on the death scenes. Make a mistake, and its
over with pretty quickly (usually). There are eyes all over this Xbox
One game. Players can pull them out and they wither away. The main bad
guy uses them to see what is going on.
My overall impressions of Max the Curse of Brotherhood are positive. The
stealing souls, and changing into magical objects is a bit odd. The
puzzle elements can be real brain teasers. Max the Curse of Brotherhood
will make you think. I love the vine swinging points of this game. Max
the Curse of Brotherhood contains some parkour elements that will
challenge you.
