NBA Live 15
SCORE: 78
NBA Live 14 was absolutely horrible last year. I know EA Sports, and
EA Tiburon hate to lose. They seriously stepped up their game in NBA
Live 15. As this basketball franchise is increasing, NBA 2K15 took major
steps backwards. What does that mean for NBA Live 15?
It means while NBA Live 15 is not a perfect basketball video game, it is
the best on the market in terms of next generation games released. I
know that may seem bold and crazy for some. Just read on, and see if you
agree by the end of this review.
Family Friendly Gaming was provided a reviewable copy of NBA Live 15 on
the Playstation 4. Which means thanks to Sony's restrictive video
policies we will not be video capturing and sharing games on the Family
Friendly Gaming Youtube channel. Apologies to all of our viewers. A PS4
version is better than nothing.
NBA Live 15 is gorgeous looking. The character faces, hair, clothing,
tattoos, and more look realistic. Know what I love seeing the most in
NBA Live 15? The sweat rolling down the faces of the players when they
go take foul shots. That brings up a good topic - foul shooting. It is
really easy to shoot fouls in NBA Live 15.
When a family member first boots up NBA Live 15 they will go through a
training seminar with Damian Lillard on how this home console sports
game controls. You can skip that at any time. Then you go through a NBA
Finals game (game seven). From there we get into the game.
My biggest problem with NBA Live 15 is the teams provided. I am not able
to play the Seattle SuperSonics. Which is a bummer to any Seattle sports
fan. My next issue is how online heavy this home console video game is.
Accounts, and logins, and all that junk. I just want to play locally. I
don't want to eat up limited bandwidth. I don't want any more bad online
experiences.
Local multiplayer is a lot of fun in NBA Live 15. It allowed me to
verify something I noticed while playing the computer. NBA Live 15 has
streaks and momentum. At times you can do nothing right. Other times you
can do nothing wrong. Almost like being on fire in NBA JAM.
The announcers in NBA Live 15 are okay. They were behind the action a
time or two. The music in NBA Live 15 is horrible. I am shocked there is
no lyrics descriptor. Thankfully individual songs can be turned off. I
ended up turning off all but three songs. The majority of the songs in
NBA Live 15 are not to my liking.
The players in NBA Live 15 can do some crazy things. Pay attention to
the colors in a circle around the player you are controlling. The more
green, the better chance they have at making it. NBA Live 15 has a quick
release too. It took me a few games to adapt to that. Once I did I was
raining down threes, and slam dunking with ease (right trigger and
towards the hoop with the shoot button baby).
There are a few modes in NBA Live 15 that will interest families. NBA
Live 15 is similar to other EA Sports games in this regard. Play a game
local, play a game online, start a dynasty, ultimate team, become a
player working your way up the ranks, play current NBA games, and more.
Everyone here at Family Friendly Gaming likes NBA Live 15 way better
than NBA 2K15. The NBA Live franchise has work to do in upcoming years.
I like what EA Tiburon has done with the graphics and physics since NBA
Live 14. I feel they will continue to improve this franchise next year.
