Panzer Tactics HD
SCORE: 70
I like strategy games. The strategy role playing genre is my sandbox.
Panzer Tactics HD is a strategy game without any of the role playing
elements. Players can add new troops and vehicles thanks to fame points.
The more cities you conquer the more fame you earn.
Family Friendly Gaming attempted to review Panzer Tactics HD on the PC
via Steam. However the game would never load. So we then played it on
the iPad. The huge problem with playing Panzer Tactics HD on the iPad is
there is in-app purchases. I got to start with the Axis, and then was
expected to pony up more money to play the Soviets and Allies. I know
how the majority of our readers feel about in-app purchases. I am with
you. I despise them as well.
Panzer Tactics HD is extreme fog of war. Which means players have to
scout out the defenses before sending in the bulk of their forces. That
also means your scouts generally get trashed. Even with this handicap I
found levels are very beatable. Especially when you learn the ebb and
flow of this strategy game.
Panzer Tactics HD includes realistic war sounds. That means bombing,
shooting, and more. In fact it can be creepy hearing those sounds whiles
playing Panzer Tactics HD. The tutorial in Panzer Tactics HD can be
great training. There are some nuances to how things work in Panzer
Tactics HD.
If you made Advance Wars more realistic and based on World War II then
you would come up with Panzer Tactics HD. The amount of units, and how
they interact can be staggering. I loved shooting land based defenses
with my battleships. Or pounding defenses with tanks, and then capturing
the city with troops.
There is one path to victory in Panzer Tactics HD. What is that path?
Slow and steady wins the race. Anticipate resistance, and defeat them
with overwhelming force. Since Panzer Tactics HD is based on war, it is
a game only for the older members of the family.
