Paper Monsters Recut

The ninety-nine cent app Paper Monsters has been ported over to the Wii U in the form of Paper Monsters Recut for $7.99 (at the moment this review was written). I have not played the Android game, so I can not speak for all of the differences. I do know the Wii U has off TV screen play.

Paper Monsters Recut reminds me of old school side scrolling games like Gianna Sisters and of course Super Mario Bros. Certain things like bomb-ombs and pipes help that connection. As well as collecting items. In Paper Monsters Recut we can collect buttons, as well as paper clips. I can not forget the golden buttons in levels either.

Players can jump on the enemies to make them turn into flattened pinatas. There are also levels where weapons are used to shoot enemies, and blow them up. Players can lose a life by losing all of their hearts, and falling into deep chasms. Think of the normal action adventure Mario or Sonic games.

The music in Paper Monsters Recut is fantastic. I really got into the music and special effect sounds. Many of the songs in Paper Monsters Recut sound similar to games I have previously mentioned in this review. You can listen to them and make your own connections.

Paper Monsters Recut is a downloadable only video game. Families are not given the option to purchase Paper Monsters Recut at their local retailers. I wish there was an easy way to distribute games like Paper Monsters Recut at local retailers. I love supporting my local economy.

I really like Paper Monsters Recut. It is a high quality Mario clone that hides paper clips masterfully well. Know what? I never ever thought I would use that statement in my life. Let alone play a game where I was looking for paper clips. Especially golden ones.
