Siesta Fiesta

Siesta Fiesta is a side scrolling Breakout kind of a video game. Think of Breakout, and then add the screen slowly scrolling to the right. I missed breaking blocks on every single level due to the speed of the scrolling. I never lost a ball thanks to the scrolling speed though.

I need to clarify one really important thing about Siesta Fiesta. The ball we are bouncing around is actually a sleeping character. Yes a cute character curled up into a ball sleeps through the level. We have multiple characters so missing a ball is generally not a problem. I did fail a few levels in Siesta Fiesta in the eight worlds.

Siesta Fiesta gets progressively more difficult as we move through levels in each of the worlds. The last level in a world is a boss character. How quickly we dispose of them determines our bronze, silver of gold ranking. In regular levels the ranking is determined on how many points we earn.

The object we use to bounce the balls up and around can range in the levels. It does fit the dreamy theme though with things like beds and lounge floaties. Hit certain blocks in water levels and water appears on the screen. It can be a bit of a distraction.

The pinata feel to Siesta Fiesta makes me think of a Mexican party. The background graphics, and some of the enemies is what gives me that impression. There are so many cool little things going on in the background of the levels of Siesta Fiesta too.

Siesta Fiesta is a fun, fresh, and cool game that all ages of the family can get into. I am so thankful that I was able to play Siesta Fiesta on the Nintendo 2DS. It also works on the Nintendo 3DS. Siesta Fiesta is a downloadable only title on the Nintendo eShop. Maybe in the future there will be a physical copy of the game.
