Skylanders Trap Team
SCORE: 84
Skylanders has become huge. I mean there are toys (on top of the
figures that go on the portals), clothing, backpacks and more.
Skylanders has become a huge cash cow. Someone out there is making all
kinds of money thanks to this franchise. Skylanders Trap Team is the
fourth game in the series.
This year we trap the enemies in these traps that plug into the front of
the new portals. Yes you have to purchase a new portal to play
Skylanders Trap Team on the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Wii,
Wii U, and/or Xbox One. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a copy of
the Xbox One version of Skylanders Trap Team.
The starter pack for Skylanders Trap Team comes with a portal, two
characters, and two traps. The two traps are for water and life. The two
characters are Food Fight, and Snap Shot. Snap Shot is a Traptanium
character. Which means he can unlock certain areas. Please note there
are regular Skylanders for Skylanders Trap Team, and Traptanium
characters. Traptanium characters of certain types are needed to access
certain areas of levels in the game.
Skylanders Trap Team is sort of like the Lego video games. You will need
to play levels multiple times to complete all aspects of them. The
difference between the Lego games, and Skylander games is you need to
purchase additional traps and types to do so. The more you invest
financially in Skylanders Trap Team the more you can complete.
There is a new unknown element in Skylanders Trap Team. The traps will
make noises, and the characters will talk to you in the levels. When you
use an enemy they can only be away from their trap for so long. So you
can not complete entire levels with them. There are also new smaller
Skylanders called Minis for sale.
The Traptanium Skylanders are between the size of a normal Skylander and
a Skylander Giant character. Which reminds me - older characters are
playable in Skylanders Trap Team. In fact you get a bonus for playing
with a Series One Skylander. Like my favorite Trigger Happy.
The humor and deep storyline continues in Skylanders Trap Team. I love
the humor in Skylanders Trap Team. It fits the previous games perfectly.
It took me around eight hours to beat Skylanders Trap Team. I had help
in the form of a second character. I also had numerous Skylanders from
previous games that were very high levels. The level cap was not
increased in Skylanders Trap Team.
There are numerous mini games in Skylanders Trap Team at the Skylanders
Academy that can help the replay value. In fact the Colosseum will
probably be the favorite of most kids. The music mini game may come in
second. Upgrading and improving characters is one of the favorite things
to do in Skylanders Trap Team.
There is action adventure violence in Skylanders Trap Team. We pummel a
variety of characters in all of the chapters. I also noticed plenty of
puzzles in Skylanders Trap Team. I love the puzzles and the various mini
quests. The downside is constantly swapping Skylanders on the wired
portal. The undead are still in Skylanders Trap Team, however they are
not used as often.
I enjoyed playing Skylanders Trap Team on the Xbox One. I am planning on
purchasing traps of different types to be able to play the different
villains. I did not like the idea of playing bad guys at first. I
realized we are turning them good - even if it is for a little while.
