Skypeace

SCORE: 80

Skypeace

Skypeace is fresh, fun, bright, colorful, happy, and exciting. Skypeace on the Nintendo 3DS reminds me of those endless runners on the iOS platform. There is one major difference. Levels end in Skypeace. Which is nice because our score is tallied and we find out how we rank.

Let me give you a hint in how to get a high score in Skypeace - collect those jewels in the levels. They are worth way more than the coins. So lose a few gold coins to get those gems. I collect coins unless I see the gems, then I go for the gems, and go back to coin collecting.

If you thought Sonic the Hedgehog collected a lot of coins, you have not seen anything yet. The boy or girl characters in Skypeace collect many coins. It is insane how many coins they can collect in a level of Skypeace. And we collect that high count in level after level. At times it felt endless.

Skypeace has a fun tutorial that explains how to play. Then it is play level after level. They are simple in the beginning. Later levels in Skypeace get challenging. As the speed increases, and there are plenty of things attacking you. We can knock a few of them off the screen with a whirlwind power up.

The controls in Skypeace are the only thing I am not sold on. We start in the middle of a three by three grid. Press forward to move forward. Let go and you revert back to the middle. Press down to go down. Press up to go up. And so on. Let go and you bounce back to the middle. In my opinion being able to move all over the screen at will like in a shooter would have made more sense, and have been easier to play.

Skypeace is selling for ninety-nine cents. It is also a download only video game. You will not be able to find Skypeace at your local Dollar Tree store. Families can expect vibrant colors mixed with happy music. Skypeace works to be a pleasing experience for families.
