Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal
SCORE: 74
If you own the Wii U version of Sonic Boom, is there any reason to
purchase the Nintendo 3DS version? Sega gave these two games different
subtitles for a reason. Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal on the 3DS is a
completely different version than the Wii U version. These two games are
able to connect and unlock special upgrades (in the Wii U version).
Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal is a side scrolling action adventure video
game that is mainly about the speed. There is exploration in Sonic Boom
Shattered Crystal. Especially when you play with different characters.
Certain characters are needed to access certain parts of levels in Sonic
Boom Shattered Crystal. That means you will need to go back to past
levels when you unlock new characters.
I like a video game that has a good flow to it. Sonic Boom Shattered
Crystal sadly does not have a good flow. Let me explain. You need enough
blue rings with wings on them to unlock levels. These are earned by
beating the level, finding all the crystal shards, finding all the
blueprints, and more. Before I was able to play the third level I had to
go back and replay the first two levels multiple times to earn one more
blue ring with wings.
My woes did not end there though because even though I could only get
one blue ring with wings on the third level, I was one short to unlock
the fourth level in Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal. This pattern repeated
too often in this hand held video game. It led to frustration as I was
constantly stopped from progressing. I kept having to go back to
previous levels and see if I could earn something else. This killed the
flow of Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal too.
We have action adventure violence as we speed dash through enemies, pull
off their shields, and injure our characters in a variety of ways. I
love the swinging mechanic in Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal. The map and
3D are also nice. The 3D did give me a headache so I kept it off most of
the game.
There are plenty of cool characters in Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal like
Sticks. She is so funny. She reminded me of Boxxy you see. I also like
the storyline of having to save Amy from that evil Lyric. Who names a
snake Lyric anyways?
