Space Run
SCORE: 70
I like the concept behind Space Run. It is a tower defense game where
we move through the attackers. We do not place defenses where the enemy
characters are marching. We run our space ship from one location to
another one. Pirates, asteroids and more try to damage our ship (and
cargo).
Space Run has a neat array of objects the player can place on their
ship. There are shields, generators, missile launchers, lasers, and
more. The goal in Space Run is to get your cargo safely to the next
location. The way you achieve that goal is to destroy everything in your
way.
Characters in Space Run make humorous comments here and there. The best
lines are thrown out there when you try to do something you are not
allowed to do. The main character has a problem with an over inflated
ego, and exhibits attitude issues. I would rate Space Run for fourteen
year olds and older only.
The controls in Space Run are not simple to pick up. It will take older
family members some time to adjust to them. It is also easy to move the
camera too far by accident. Certain pirate ships require specific
strategies to beat. A few of them were able to do cheap things like
disable my engines and shields. I did not appreciate that - it felt like
the game was cheating.
Space Run stands out in the crowded tower defense genre. It is unique
enough that tower defense fanboys will take interest. It is quirky
enough to become a cult hit among certain groups of gamers. Space Run is
complex enough to leave gamers wanting more.
