Tales of Xillia 2

It is so nice to go back to role playing game worlds we are familiar with. Tales of Xillia 2 takes us back to the fascinating and strange worlds of Rieze Maxia and Elympios. Tales of Xillia 2 also brings in alternate versions of the worlds. Where things are different but also very close to being the same.

Tales of Xillia 2 allows older family members choice in terms of responses in the dialogue. This also can impact the ending you will receive. I found it helped me pay attention to what was going on in terms of the dialogue. Which is a good thing because Tales of Xillia 2 can be confusing.

Not only do we have these two different connected worlds, we have fractured dimensions of them. Keeping it all straight in terms of where you are can be difficult. Speaking of difficult we are strapped with a massive debt in Tales of Xillia 2 early on that we have to work on paying off.

The best way to pay off debts in Tales of Xillia 2 is to perform quests and hunt down elite monsters. These range from bringing in so many of certain items, to killing off so many of certain monsters. The financial rewards they pay make them worth your while.

Spirits make a return in Tales of Xillia 2. As does enticement to lust, bad language, violence, blood, death, reincarnation, and more. Bouncing breasts were added - and they distract from the strength of Milla. The main character Ludger Kresnick can turn on some dark power to become invincible and attack for a short period of time.

The presentation in Tales of Xillia 2 is better than the first game. The anime movies, and story telling is engaging. Odd things like tomato cupcakes can be found. I love rushing around with the R2 button. It made me feel like the Flash. Tales of Xillia 2 feels like it was influenced by Lightning Returns. Especially in the completing quests section, and in the swapping weapons.

The wonderful, fun, and amazing spider-web from Tales of Xillia is gone. Intead we have Allium Orbs. They are not as engaging or interesting. Elementals can be found which is what grants players new skills. Exodus makes its return, and we have to deal with the Spirius Corporation. Most of the main characters from Tales of Xillia make their return appearance in Tales of Xillia 2. Most of them have a different look too.

The funny comments, and animations after battles make their return as well. Players can create friendships by linking with different characters in Tales of Xillia 2. Battles feel about the same. Although those book like monsters no longer provide massive experience points. Which is a real bummer.

I wish some of the major moral, and ethical issues from Tales of Xillia had been addressed in Tales of Xillia 2. There are so many improvements that could have been made. The whole debt thing in Tales of Xillia 2 is irritating at best. Especially when the story is held up because we have to make a payment. Tales of Xillia 2 does not care that we have made multiple payments recently.

Bandai Namco could have reached so many more people with Tales of Xillia 2 if they would have toned down the blood, violence, and enticement to lust. Instead they went the opposite direction. They put more bad content in there - meaning less families will give it a chance.
