The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny
SCORE: 72
Out of all
the retro games Monkeypaw Games is bringing to the USA, I thought The
Firemen 2 Pete and Danny had the best chance of success. Who doesn't
want to be a fireman? Putting out fires, and saving people is the dream
of millions of boys.
I need to be clear that Monkeypaw Games ported over the Human
Entertainment Japanese game The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny. This was a
Playstation game. You know PS1. Before the Playstation 2 (PS2). The
Firemen 2 Pete and Danny has not been regionalized, localized,
nationalized, or any other kind of ized.
Does it feel like I am beating around the bush? Okay maybe I am. The
Firemen 2 Pete and Danny is in Japanese. Characters tell your two
firemen what to do. Except I do not speak or read Japanese. So I had no
idea which direction to go or why my partner was yammering on at me
about my choice.
I might as well been playing The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny with the
television on mute. Although the music is interesting, and the emotion
of the voice acting is extreme. So there might have been some kind of a
story going on in The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny - I would never know.
The graphics in The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny look okay. I like how the
different fires animate. Which reminds me - our character has two main
ways of dealing with fire. There is the spray which is good for small
fires at your feet. There is the power stream which takes out massive
large fires faster.
The fires in The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny are very aggressive toward the
player. In fact they seem to have a fondness for attacking the firemen.
Take out the big fires first, and then deal with the ones at your feet
afterwards. I saw the little fires as cleanup, and to move to the next
little room/area.
There is a timer in The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny. I let it run out in
the aquarium since I could not figure out how to finish the level. I
checked the Monkeypaw Games page for The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny and
found out what needed to be done. The trick was then figuring out how to
do that.
I love the idea of putting out fires. The Firemen 2 Pete and Danny does
a fantastic job of that. This is an older home console game so do not
expect all of the new stuff. There is no major tutorial in how to play.
There is a Japanese manual included in this downloadable game. Families
can enjoy an older game that Americans missed in the past.
